Sports Medicine / Marble Slab AAA Bantam Colts shutout Preds in Game 3 to take series win.
The Sports Medicine / Marble Slab Bantam AAA Colts were at home Wednesday night with a chance to win the first round series with the North Central Predators.  After back to back wins on the weekend, the Colts had a chance to knock off the Predators and sweep the series.  The Colts wanted to ensure a strong start in Game 3, limiting chances to a very talented Predators team.

Game one of the series went on Saturday night at the BMC.  The Colts flew out of the gate storming to a quick 4-0 lead part way through the first period.
At the end of the first, the Colts held a decisive 5-2 edge on the score board.
As expected, the Preds pushed back making it 5-3 but the Colts strong defensive play took over and the game ended at 5-3 and the Colts held a 1-0 series lead.
On Sunday, the teams hit the ice for game 2 in Rama.
The Preds took a 1-0 lead in the first period and held that lead until part way through the second period.  The Colts then scored 3 unanswered goals and skated to a 3-1 win and came out of the weekend with a 2-0 series lead and a chance to close out the series at home.
On Wednesday night, both teams hit the ice hard and carried that momentum into the first period of game 3.  The teams played a very physical, high tempo first period.  Late in the period, Christian Taylor found the back of the net off of a Brad Murchison point shot rebound and the Colts were up 1-0.  At the 5 minute mark of the second, Richard Whittaker scored with the assist to Connor Corcoran and the Colts were up 2-0.  Just over a minute later, the Preds found themselves on the penalty kill and Rhys Brown made no mistake when Matt Nastasiuk set him up on the power play and the Colts had a 3-0 lead.  At the 10 minute mark of the third period, Ben Beausaert beat the Preds Goalie with the assist to Braden Henderson, 4-0 Colts.  Late in the period, the Preds again found themselves on the penalty kill and Whittaker scored his second of the game on the power play as Henderson notched his second assist.
The Colts took game 3 by a score of 5-0 as Jacob Ingham stood tall in net for another shut out.
The Colts will now wait for the winner of the Clarington Toros / Whitby Wildcats series.
