Sports Medicine - Marble Slab Bantam AAA Colts win on the road to take series with Toros.
The Sports Medicine - Marble Slab Bantam AAA Colts were in Clarington on Wednesday night with a chance to take the playoff series with the Toros 3 straight.  As expected, both teams came out hitting hard trying to establish a physical presence but it was the Colts who found the back of the net first.

With their line providing some great pressure down low, Richard Whittaker slid a pass to Ben Beausaert who made no mistake at the 5 minute mark of the first period, burying his chance and giving the Colts a 1-0 lead.
The Colts took that lead in to the second period where they found themselves on the power play.  After some great puck management, Barret Kirwin scored his first of the game with the assists to Trevor Grasby and Braden Henderson.
Just 4 minutes later Whittaker found himself alone in front of the Toros goal and showed a bit of razzle dazzle as he slide the puck into the back of the net and the Colts had a demanding 3-0 lead.
Tempers flared a bit and the Toros found themselves in penalty trouble and as the period came to an end, Kirwin scored his second of the game on the power play to give the Colts a 4-0 lead going into the third period.
The Toros came out hard for the third period, determined to get back into the game but Jacob Ingham made a number of great saves helping the Colts maintain their advantage.
The Toros did break the bid for a shutout with just 13 seconds left as the Colts served a too many men penalty but the Colts took the game 4-1 and the series sweep over the Toros.
That caps a great playoff run for the Colts who did not drop a playoff game in decisive series wins over the North Central Predators and Clarington Toros, two great ETA hockey teams.

With this series win, the Colts will play in the OMHA Championship Tournament next weekend at St Andrew's College in Aurora.  The tournament begins Friday morning with game over the weekend.

Congratulations to the players on the Barrie Colts.  Your hard work and determination has paid off over the past 7 months, good luck at the OMHA's.
