Sports Medicine Minor Midget Colts Sweep Kingston and earn spot in OMHA tournament.
The Sports Medicine Minor Midget Colts were in Kingston last night for game three of the OMHA semi final series. The Colts took games 1 and 2 last weekend and held a 4 points to 0 lead heading into last nights game. With a win, the Colts could earn a spot in the OMHA Tournament next weekend.
Both team came out skating and hitting hard as the first period ended in a 0-0 tie. The Colts found the back of the net the second period and didn't look back as Barrie's Captian and leader all year scored the natural hattrick and Barrie took the game 3-0. Jacob Ingham was solid again in net turning away 16 shots for the shutout.
This win gave Barrie the series sweep and earned them a spot in next weekends OMHA Championship Tournament being hosted by the Clarington Toros.
The Colts now join the Toros, Hamilton Bulldogs and Southern Tier Admirals for the tournament. The last series will be decided this weekend as York Simcoe and Quinte play for the final tournament spot.
The top four teams from the OMHA weekend are gauranteed spots in the OHL Cup later in March.
