Minor Bantam Colts win the Tim Hortons International Tournament
The Minor Bantams came home with the Championship this past weekend in Hamilton after completing the weekend with a perfect 6 and 0 record.
The Colts played their first game Saturday morning vs. the Toronto Red Wings and came out on top 5-3 after an empty net game. That afternoon they beat a very tough Buffalo Saints team 4-1 in a very chippy game that was 1-1 until the third period.
The next morning the Colts played the Soo Thunder with a short bench as they found out that they had lost 2 players to injury in the game the following morning. The Colts dug deep to win 6-0, but lost another player to injury in the process. That afternoon the Colts played the host Huskies down 3 players. They got off to a bad start losing another player to injury and were quickly down 2-0. But the Colts like they have for most of the season rallied with 3 goals in the last 7 minutes to win 3-2 to finish the Round Robin 4 and 0 and in 1st place.
The Semifinals saw a rematch vs. the Buffalo Saints down 4 players now on Monday morning. With the help of 2 AP players the Colts clawed out a 2-1 win to make it to the finals in another rematch vs. the Huskies.
The finals were at 2:45pm on Monday and with Barrie wounded and tired the boys dug deep and dominated the Huskies from the puck drop to win 4-1 and take home the Championship!
Congrats to all the boys on a very gutty performance all weekend. They showed great determination and hard work. A job well done!
