Buffalo Cup Success
On Friday January 11, the AAA Minor Atom Colts travelled to Buffalo USA to take part in the The Cup North American Championship.
This 30 team competition attracts the best and brightest hockey talent, and our boys did themselves proud! The team won their division with a tie against Don Mills Flyers and wins over East Coast Wizards, Boston Advantage and Windsor Jr. Spitfires. In the quarterfinals, the boys shutout Elgin Middlesex Chiefs before meeting Toronto JRC in the semifinals. The Colts showed an impressive amount of speed, skill, strength and determination on way to defeating the top ranked team in Ontario 4-3 in one of the most exciting games of hockey in recent memory and electrifying the capacity crowd. The boys continued to dominate the competition in the championship game versus Belle Tire Warriors, but despite vastly outshooting and outplaying the Warriors through the finals, just couldn’t solve the goaltender on the day, falling 3-2 in the end. No matter the outcome the coaching staff and parent group couldn’t have been more proud of these young boys and thank them for an exceptional weekend of hockey, friendship and sportsmanship.
