Sports Medicine - Marble Slab Bantam AAA Colts travel to Port Huron MI for Silver Stick Finals
The Sports Medicine - Marble Slab Bantam AAA Colts were in Port Huron MI this past weekend to compete in the International Silver Stick Finals.
Although the Colts went through the weekend without a loss, they fell a point short from advancing to quarter final play.

The Colts opened the tournament against the Milwaukee Jr Admirals.  The Colts last played the Admirals in the finals of the Nations Cup tournament where the team fought to a 1-1 tie, a game the Colts eventually won in a shoot out.  This game proved no different.  The Colts opened the scoring to take a 1-0 lead but the Admirals tied the game late in the period, 1-1 at the end of 1.
Although the Colts had a number of chances during the 2nd and 3rd periods, they could not get one past the Admirals goalie and the game ended in a tie.
Next up, Shattuck St Marys, a great test and anticipated game for the Colts.  Shattuck features some of the top 2000 US players and the Colts came out to prove they could play with the best.  The Colts opened the scoring and held a 1-0 lead.
Shattuck tied the game on a power play in the second period.
Although the Colts had a number of great chances during the second and third period, they could not get the go ahead goal ( well at least not one that the ref and goal judge could see - come on, fixing the wire on the score lamp while Nasty was shooting !! Really !! :)   ).  Colts and Shattuck skate to a 1-1 tie.
Later the same afternoon, the Colts faced the Waterloo Wolves, another great test for the Colts.
The Colts came out firing and never let up, scoring in each period and notching 5 straight goals before the Wolves managed one late, the Colts taking the game 5-1.
In their final game of round robin play, the Colts needed a win and need Shattuck to tie or lose in order to advance in the tournament.  The Colts did their part, beating Detroit Victory Honda in a great football game !  Sorry it was hockey but with some of the plays and 'missed calls' one might think the three guys in stripped shirts left Port Huron and went right to Dallas for Sunday afternoon !  In the end, Colts win 2-1 but Shattuck beats Waterloo 2-1 leaving the Colts 1 point out of quarter final play.  Overall, a great weekend of hockey.

The Colts are back in action Tuesday night when they host the North Central Predators, 9:00 pm at the BMC.

Go Colts Go !!
